Is it what taking so long for ICONOMI to built?
How is this different from what we as a traders already do at exchange?
It is a fund management platform. I can invest in funds created by other people, or design my own fund for others to invest in. Funds typically account for a considerable portion of investment portfolios in the old economy, and this fund management platform is the first to offer those same investment opportunities to people investing in the crypto-sphere.
Can only ICN holders take part in this fund management platform?
No. The platform has just launched in beta, so currently only a handful of people can access it. Once it goes live, anyone can access it (supposing there are no restrictions in their jurisdiction). The aim is to target a broad audience who are not currently invested in the crypto-sphere: old economy investors who want to branch out into crypto but who do not have the insight to make their own investment decisions, and/or those people who cannot figure out how to use wallets. A fund manager's history will be visible, so people can judge who should manage their assets based on the fund manager's track record.
You do not need to hold ICN to use the platform. ICN tokens represent shares in the Iconomi platform. Profits made from the Iconomi platform will be distributed to ICN holders as dividends.
