Why start this project?

Existing cryptocurrencies fall short of being fully anonymous; whether it's from network-level deficiencies or economic shortcomings. There is no cryptocurrency in existence that guarantees full end-to-end encryption of the distributed network. ZenCash is designed to be fully encrypted as a network and also as a means to send and distribute money.

What is zero-knowledge encryption?

Zero-knowledge encryption allows for undecipherable encrypted communications to propagate throughout the network while providing protections against denial of service attacks and spamming. Zero-knowledge encryption allows for private economic activity where the recipient, sender, and amount of activity is kept confidential.

What is ZenCash and when was ZenCash released?

ZenCash is a platform for secure communications and for deniable economic activity. It is an evolution of the Zcash codebase aimed at primarily enabling secure communications and resilient networking. As a platform it enables secure global messaging, persistent file storage, and private economic activity.

ZenCash was launched May 30th, 2017. It is actively trading on Bittrex.

How is ZenCash financially supported? Is it a ICO, pre-mine, or etc?

ZenCash did not conduct an ICO or a pre-mine. ZenCash began as a chainsplit from Zclassic, providing a base of ZEN owners.

ZenCash funds growth using a redirection of a portion of the miner reward, to be spent on ZenCash using a community governance mode. In the ZenCash network, 8.5% of the tokens are allocated for community development, marketing, maintenance, and other costs paid for out of the treasury. This ensures that there are always enough resources available for growth.

I am an early Zclassic investor, what does this mean to me?

Anyone who held Zclassic prior to the block 110,000 chainsplit was allocated a 1:1 amount of Zen automatically. Simply import the Zclassic private keys into the new Zen wallet after the launch to redeem your tokens. Bittrex credited everyone who owned Zclassic at block 110,000 with an equivalent amount of ZenCash

Are full nodes going to be incentivized with block rewards?

Anyone that runs a full node with additional requirements will qualify for the Secure Node reward and participates in the network node funds allocation program will receive their share of 3.5% of the coinbase rewards. The Secure Node System development is funded by the ZenCash treasury.
