Googling the dev's username I see he is russian very involved in several gaming communities. I also found a picture of half his face (which is now removed from the internet). I managed to save it to my work computer so I will post it later.

also, looking at the timezones on his bitcointalk profile and slack profile it seems as even though he's russian, he doesn't live in russia but rather in western europe
