I didn't know much what is the benefits of altcoins in bitcoins but the only thing i know is altcoins is the alternative coins for the bitcoins so if the bitcoin price will getting higher or PUMPED it affects the altcoins price the price of the altcoins will get lower or DUMPED 
And if you want to make an alternative coin you will need a big investment and you need to know how to program or to mine it but it's worth because you can earn a huge profit if your coin will become successful
