Simple answer, dense objects fall and light objects rise.

Why ?

Because there's an electrical circuit between the domes positively charged oxide surface and the grounds negative charge, this defines up and down. While at the macroscopic scale it can be seen as pressure pushing down on an object that causes it to fall.

How does the "electrical circuit" know how much an object weighs ? What if the object is completely non-conductive ?

Rub an inflated balloon against what's left of your hair then use use it to levitate some styrofoam peanuts. Then ask yourself, are styrofoam peanuts conductive?

For our next experiment we'll need a rare earth magnet and a length of copper tubing...
