Dogecoin is an inflationary coin. While it may have a stable price and be very useful in micro-transaction, it is unlikely to attract speculative investors. So the price is not likely to take off.
Yes. Its current supply would render it difficult to increase in value, at any point in time. Despite the facts, Dogecoin will continue to be used to introduce people into cryptocurrency. Being an extremely inexpensive coin, anyone can get into it, and start sending/receiving micropayments.
Because of its nature, it can be easily implemented into games for kids of all ages to play and earn Dogecoin. That is why, in my eyes, Dogecoin will be one of the best altcoins worth using for almost anything you like.
Nevertheless, I hope that Dogecoin would remain alive for years to come, even if no development is made into it. Just sharing my thoughts.
