I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be losing a point in eq durability after each use.
There is definitely something wrong with ship durability. I've gone down 4 points since yesterday, and I haven't been wrecked once.
It happens when you receive large amount of damage, not specifically during wreckage, it's also random AND (here's something I wasn't aware of) - your fleet overhead affects the roll.
