Well my friend, first of all what is your purpose of drinking alcohol? If its just about relaxation then there are plenty of alternatives... coffee and tea are the best.

Are you out of our mind? Tea and coffee are stimulants, and they act just the opposite of what alcohol does. That is why we have tea or coffee before starting work. Alcohol is a relaxant, and it helps you to settle down after a day of hard work.

Alcohol does not give a relaxing effect if consumed only in small amounts. Alcohol provides a relaxing effect when consumed in large quantities. But consuming alcohol in large quantities is not a good thing, alcohol in large quantities can cause various side effects in our bodies. So you should not consume alcohol when tired just to relax. Herb tea is relaxing and drinking tea is much better.

Small quantities of alcohol (equivalent to around 50 ml of pure ethyl alcohol) is enough to give a relaxing effect. And if taken once in a while (2-3 times per week), I don't think that this habit will create any health issue. But if you consume more than this amount, it is risky for your liver. And especially so, if your liver is weak from infections such as Hepatitis.
