Auction costs time. It's better to sell 5 devices per day with profit margin 500% than one device per day with profit margin 1000%.

I only said that you should check out the prices with an auction. Maybe sell 5 small units in a week. Then you have 5 prices for it and you can make a price out of it. You can then offer 100 units for that price. Im sure they will sell. If not you can still go down in price.
But at the end you even can auction many units over some time. For example every day set up 5 units for auction with a ending of auction in 7 days or so. The next day again 5 miners and so on.

And i dont think that its better to churn out as many units as possible for a lower price because these miners (probably not the small one) will be miners that cut your future revenue in mining too. So the price for selling should at least meet a good chunk of months of mining revenue that this unit would have brought.

I think its really the best way, revenue-like, that Asicminer will go the auction route.
