I don't get this, how do you defend something decentralised?

The one who will defend our wallet since it is decentralized is of course the owner of the wallet. But if you somehow use a hosted web wallet the responsibility of protecting your wallet from hackers is the host site. But even big web wallet hosts are also target of hacking such as the incident a year ago when bitfinex was hacked and a large amount of bitcoins was stolen
