Just an FYI to you guys that would like to see permanent badges, this is why that is a bad idea.
Badges separate people into camps, those camps get more toxic to each other when the other is immediately identified as being part of a disliked camp.
A perfect example of this is Sites where you see Intel and Amd fanboys at each others throat no matter what the topic is just because they are wearing a badge the other doesn't like.
Badges while looking nice creates a toxic environment. You have all seen the Thiscoin VS thatcoin threads in the alt section, those type squabbles would spill over to completely unrelated threads. It would be nice if everyone on the interwebs were all adults that don't pre judge but that is not the world we live in, it's similar to judging someone when you first see them without getting to know them. And there are a significant amount of adults that do this which is a cause of alot of the strife in the world. Now excuse me while I try to figure out how not to give up the river while making the Mexicans pay for my wall.
