yep it goes thinner as it gets to the female end. the usb cables i use are 28awg data and 24 awg power.
basic wire thickness from the power supply is ... meanwell -> 16awg -> 18awg -> 24awg

Where do you do the split from 16awg to 18awg? I didn't see a distribution block in your pictures, is there one just off screen somewhere?
I don't have good pictures yet. I'm still building it lol. Basically I "upgrade" the usb cable and then solder all 5 18ga wires from a "group" of miners to a single 16ga wire that i then run to the power supply. No distributions blocks just lots of solder and tape
if you look at it from the top you can see the clump of wire at the bend were 2 groups of miners come together that bundle of tape is where i soldered the wires.
