I'm also new to mining and all that jargon have me confused.

Nevertheless to say, I am using an HP Pavilion DV73186CL Notebook being this as the client computer. CPU/GPU/RAM and whatsoever are all stock.

I don't keep it on 24/7 due to overheating concerns

Well there isn't much you can do in the line of modifications to a Notebook for Bitcoin Mining. With that sort of set up you are stuck at what you are currently getting.
