How exactly is this coin going to help the environment ? What does it do ?
It does nothing. It is just a fancy story that most coins use. There coins about all sorts of things they never actually about them.
I somewhat agree, some newly launched coins using some sort of gimmickry just to attract some attention and eventually supporters.
Most cater to the minds of individuals, altcoins are just altcoins.... alternatives to something original, some may hold value in the eyes of the beholder, some may just hold them for profit and some maybe just sell, sell and sell since the only reason they are in is mining.

It creates new demand and value for investment.
