The value during that time when they were donating 50 btc isn't as high as the current. $5k really is huge for something to donate. I'm not sure what benefits donators have in the forum by the way besides that badge under their username to which you would look very rich
1 btc is valuable enough.50 btc * 1'000 usd = 50'000 dollars not 5k dollars (k = thousand).
