i can use a chain backup from a newly re-synched 2.1.7 version for masternodes?
Yes, I'm pretty sure you can. This version basically weeds out corrupt blockchains better.
BTW, I"ve updated my guide so that you can just try updating only the binary files first.
ok thanks, i just resynced my ubuntu system with version 2.1.7 from scratch and made a chain backup.
