I had the same problem in december 2016. 2 BTC locked by MultiBit. I managed to get them back by the procedure described here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1733063.0

I think MultiBit HD should be taken offline. The password/lock problem has been described since October 2015 (1.5 years ago): https://github.com/keepkey/multibit-hd/issues/765
