I am a student getting into the IT sector and I personally hate to travel. I much prefer staying here at my home in my little town. Then again, I wouldnt consider myself an average IT guy.
Well i think, most of people like to travel. And even if you like your town where you were born, if you start earning enough money to start traveling, i think most of people would. What i want to say is this, if you earn money more than you need, and in small towns there isn't many places where you can spend that cash, you will need to go to some other place to spend it. And there you go, traveling. And because your job is with computer, which you can carry with you, its easy to move and work and see world. 
. But who knows, maybe one day they will invent teleport of some kind, and it would be interesting to travel from place to place. Like in that Book i reed, Hyperion by Den Simmons.
