We all know Bill Gates the owner of microsoft is the most richest man in the world. Total wealth of $80 Billion US dollars. While satoshi nakamoto the owner and founder of bitcoin only have $1 billion US dollars, Why he cant just generate indefinite amount of bitcoins for him and exchange it to real cash, right? Any thoughts?
Hhahaha , this can't be real....
The moment Satoshi would do this (the problem is that he won't quite be able to do it, but let's forget about it) the value of bitcoins would plummet to...guess what 0.
This is the basic selling point of bitcoin , limited supply.
Once we mess with this it's just like printing fiat.
You're entirely right in my opinion. Having a hard cap on the amount of Bitcoins that exists regulates the supply in a way that everyone knows, and we can already see how something like this has impacted other altcoins and what the results of their experiments were. Changing the cap, even by just one or two, entirely throws off the trust in the cap and sets a prescient where anyone can start to change up the cap even more if they wanted to.
Not sure why the person you're replying to thought that printing money is a legitimate strategy. Oh well, I guess this thread is babby's first economic lesson.
