Brit, so I should probably be more focused on
my thread about that election, heh. I'm alarmed by the swing to authoritarianism every it seems to be occurring lately. If so-called terrorism causes us to sacrifice our basic human rights and freedoms in the name of defence, then as far as I'm concerned, the terrorists have won. Authoritarianism at home is not the answer and nor is creating yet more displaced people by bombing the shit out of other countries. The solution to the migrant/refugee crisis is not to wall up your borders, it's to stop causing such migration by screwing up other parts of the world to make a profit. The more western countries are pursuing petty national interests at the expense of humanity as a whole, the worse the situation becomes. Stop meddling in the affairs of other nations and marvel at the reduction in the number of refugees you create. It's not rocket science.
Imperialism is modern Western Culture under a shadow of feminism and shaming through PC Values and the idea that this is modernism.
Mix in corporatism and the interest in making the most profit at any cost without caring about the locals and we get government policies that subsidize wars as at the end of the day the corporation can just move around so it's not so much a concern what happens in the local zone they operate but in reality it should be about peoples mobility and security as making the most profit possible for the cheapest buck puts development to the side hence all the resource invasions for oil fields resources and mines etc without the economic benefits and jobs trickling down.
The problem with Europe is that destroying a buffer in Libya with Gaddaffi is as dumb as you can get now its just a hole that no one can patch up and shows you reap what you sow promoting disorder chaos and civil war will naturally result in people moving to safety, cultural migration and cheap labor can come back to bite under the guise of lets bring democracy what is democracy throw a few bombs and send aid to feel better. Like that will ever result in a better outcome for the people it takes a lot more than a few aid convoys to rebuild a war-torn country. Your right however authoritarianism is reviving due to fear but if it leads to a Western Power War then we are in real trouble.
That said as long as it is handled we should be fine but weak political and economic structures do lead to difficulties.
