You've heard it right. There are currently 21 million millionaires are being created in public.
Hint: 21 million bitcoins.
The distribution of bitcoin is very skewed at the moment. My guess is that there are less than 100K individual holding more than 1BTC, with many holding more than 10 or 100. There won't be 21 million millionaires... if 1 BTC=1million dollar (?)
I agree there won't be 21 million people to become millionaires because there's other bitcoins that are lost, burned and also the reward from the genesis block that can't be spent. I think 1btc = $1 million sounds impossible but if we reach it we still cant reach 21 million people being millionaires. There could still be other people that holds more than 1 btc
