Scrypt blows SHA256 out of the water... the top 29 coins are all scrypt! BTC comes in at rank 30. Yes I know that this will likely change as the global hashrate and difficulty increases, but on paper it looks like mining scrypt may be fare more profitable.
Have I made an incorrect calculation?
Not that it's incorrect but you may be underestimating the bold part. Bitcoin difficulty could be reaching a plateau where it doesn't grow faster than single-digit percentages, whereas Litecoin (not to mention other mostly tiny Scrypt coins) can double or triple in a matter of weeks, depending on how many L3+ Bitmain can produce - and it looks like they can produce a lot, given the recent price drop. Higher reward does not come without higher risk, especially if you take into account other factors such as exchange rates and equipment resale values.
