With online wallets trust me, anything is possible. I would wish all Bitcoin enthusiasts should get a laptop only desktop and have the entire core downloaded so that you keep your private keys to yourself. I think that's more secured than having someone or a company hold them for you.
Having your own laptop PC or whatever to use as a means of storing your Bitcoin is typically safer than what anyone else or any company could do, but that's only if you keep it offline and make an effort to keep it safe. Most people don't want to have any kind of electronic device sitting around. While companies aren't exactly perfect, they aren't anything to scoff at either. They do offer things like 2FA and so for users, and they don't leave accounts open.
