Okay so I have some legacy XWC from 2014, how do I go about the swap? I don't have the old wallet anymore but still have the .dat

Instamined, you can download the legacy wallet here :
https://github.com/Whitecoin-org/archive_Whitecoin_old/releases/tag/1.1.2.3after that you can open it once and close it down.
as FixItDad says is correct. Download the blockchain, and place the unpacked files including the wallet.dat in your "%appdata%\Whitecoin" folder
Let it sync and follow the manual swap process in the document linked by FixItDad
