Gambling can be profitable in the long run, provided we are not greedy or seek greater benefits than we have get. Profit 1%/day are better than 100% but only once.
How let's say you deposit 1 btc to gamble and don't win anything so you can't call the person greedy in this case.
Basic rule of gambling and it applies to anyone who gambles 'Deposit only the amount you can afford to lose' if you follow this rule you will either not gamble or if you lose you may not have any regret (hopefully)

If the game your are playing does not require skills like poker, and you are playing against the casino, you will eventually lose due to the house edge advantage. I agree, better play only with the money that you can afford to lose and only for entertainment.
Yes, we all know what way of play would be better, but the problem of addiction is still stays actual. I gamble on poker almost everyday, who knows how much I lost on this already.
That is the factor that is very difficult to remove. Even if we lose and lose a lot of money then we will keep playing continuously. This is a very bad addiction. There must be strong self-control to get over it. Gambling can be profitable when we are always lucky. While if only rely on skill then we must surrender to all the results achieved.
Making money on playing poker is possible but would really depend on your skills but when addiction hits you then you would really do the things that aren't right already which is losing soo much money and you do still play it no matter what. There are some players could able to maintain making money but just for experienced and skill based games on some card games. This is possible but really hard to achieve.
