You see, despite being a former American colony, we weren't exactly touched by Enlightenment so you can be sure that people here would fight over their imported deities. People here has also gone quite callous over the years, as you probably already saw in whatever got to your media. Yes, an overwhelming number of people here want death penalty back, and considering how recent political issues has further polarized an already divided population, I would be surprised if we end up like Pakistan with capital punishment for "blasphemy".
