Will it be feasible to fit 6 rx 580s 8gb on a 1000w gold psu with dual mining(dcr) ? I think the new rebrand uses more power than 400 series, or with tweaks is it comparable ?
It uses more power stock because of higher clocks, if u mod/undervolt, the power is almost the same as 400 series.
For dual mining i wouldn't even use a 1200w psu, let alone a 1000w one.
Dual mining with 580's will get you close to 1000w, way over the safe, 80% PSU usage.
I got 7 rx 470s dual mining on a 1000w psu, using about 850w total, however severely undervolted, cards are at 825mv. I already have 1000w psus, so I guess my safe bet is to do 470/570 again with agressive undervolting.
Well, im not saying it won't work, but for me, that's not a safe way to build rigs.
The cards can spike, the rig can shutdown, the PSU is under stress, the lifespan becomes questionable.
Everyone has his own opinions on this matter, personaly i like to have more head space. I'm not using anything below Platinum 1200 Evga's or Gold 1300w Evga's for my rigs. Just to be on the safe side.
