Why you think this will make BTC look bad to the masses 
It's not bitcoin that have enabled this hackers to put this ransomeware in computers worldwide, NSA must be blamed for this and windows for not warning their users about this vulnerability. I agree, this has very little to do with bitcoin besides being the chosen ransom payment method. Surprisingly, I would not blame Micro$oft for this either as a patch for this exploit was released months ago. Just another warning for everybody to keep their systems patched and up to date.
