Since this is an altcoin, uses blockchain and you are able to transfer coins, I would like to know what consensus mechanism is used. Is it like Bitcoin PoW mining or did I understand something wrong?

CFT is full premined, there are 50 MLN coins, 92% (46MLN) holded by investors. Team will hold only 3%.
CFT is an Omni asset, as Synereo AMP - MaidSafeCoin - TetherUS - Agoras and the same Omni, all of them are on poloniex. So ti works on BTC blockchain using op_return.
