There are several exchanges that people use but I'm using poloniex. It has BTC, USDT, and a bunch of altcoins.
Also Bittrex is a second famous exchange in the internet with good support and stable altcoins in there. While your favorite coins not listed on Poloniex you can try using Bittrex to check your favorite coins.
