It's pretty easy to avoid wannacry. Just yesterday I received a skype message with a badoo.com link or something like that. Got it from a person I hadn't spoken to in 4 years, then out of nowhere one message and it's a url. Later I heard a friend had got his PC infected by that same link sent from someone else.
