Do you intend on forking ethereum and using that code for your token? I don't know how well recieved and ICO would be for something like this. Usually people look for new technology or something different when investing into an ICO.
No, I wouldn't fork it. I would simply create a token on top of Ethereum chain.Now, regarding "something different".
