Phil you're awesome!

I have some of those motherboards on the way, also I have a z170 with 4 PICEx16 - spacing is going to be tight for a 4 card 1080TI no riser but I'm going to run it just to see how long it can go. Should get here monday.

My new bottleneck - these stupid Corsair 750's only have 2... TWO! 4+4/6+1 power ports. The Rosewill 850w you suggested does have 4 PCIE power lines, so I just need  to get some more cables that have 2 sets of 6+2's in them, I ran out. I upgraded a dozen 1070's to 1080Ti's today - hardware always takes longer than you expect. Was expecting to unscrew, unplug, swap and be done. The power cords threw me for a huge loop.

I was thinking about running power from my 1500w EVGA but I actually don't have long enough cables for that either.

So back to the drawing board.

This EVGA GQ 850W has EIGHT 6+2pin. You could technically put 4x 1080 Ti on that Biostar mobo.
Just make sure to get the blower versions of the gpu and lower the power limit to around 75 to 80.

never used your psu pick it looks good

I ran the biostar z170 with 4 rx 480's no risers it gets hot

the setup I did with 3 cards  above is pretty much fool proof zero heat issues  2300-2400 for skein only 550 watts.

it will run on  the biostar z 170

it will run on the gigabyte z270

2300 for skein  or 1800 for zec  low power  550 watts

all three cards cool.

Since I have lots of biostar z170's I will use them.

as for better boards no board  that I know has 1-4 -7 spacing.d
but the 1080ti - 1080ti - 1070 msi mini  super short   allows for 3 cool cards. 72-75% tdp's

my garage is hot 90 f

cards still run well under 70c at 75% fan.

my rack can hold 6 rigs that would be  more then 6 x 2200 = 13200 for skein or  6 x 1800 = 1080 for zec  at 6 x 550 watts = 3300

I would be earning over  150 usd a day for that power.

btw  the evga psu you link is a good one for one of these rigs.

I own 2 and ⅓ s-9's  they use about 3300 watts  they earn 33 dollars a day

same power bill   at 20 cents a k-watt about 16 dollars a day.

so  one setup earns  150 cost 16 to run at 20 cents a k-watt  cost 8 to run at 10 cents a k-watt cost 4 to run at 5 cents a k-watt.
one setup earns 33 costs  16 to run   same as above.

basically these gpus  compete at 20 cents a k-watt  as well as s-9 do at 4 cents a k-watt.

I plan to have 6 rigs on that rack

1)1080ti 1080ti 1070    4)1080ti 1080ti 1070

2)1080ti 1080ti 1070    5)1080ti 1080ti 1070

3)1080ti 1080ti 1070   6) 1080ti 1080ti 1070
