With amount like 10 BTC entering directly into trading is not good. If you go in directly without experience, you will find no difference between trading and gambling 
I suggest you learning little before owning large stock of coins. Best is if you buy wide range of altcoins like 15-20 in smaller quantity budgeting 0.5 BTC for pre-pilot survey. Later on, you could easily ascertain which coin giving you good return and which isn't.

PS: Investment in Bitcoin is 99% scam and there are very less legit options available. Trading is far better than investment in case of bitcoin.
