You can use any wallet that can store ERC20 tokens / ETH. For example MIST.
For now I use the Ethereum Wallet, but I could switch to MIST.
I can not find a tutorial for how to send and store in MIST ALT ETHER COINS.

Yes. And then you have to watch the token in Mist, so BAT will "show up":

Send BAT to the wallet address in your Ethereum Wallet. In order to "see" the token in your account, you have to watch it:
Under "Contracts" click "Add token" at the bottom. Paste the Contract Address and click "ok".
Now BAT should be visible in the account you sent them to.
