Is this really true for all hindus? I guess that there are only few who do this act, maybe overpowering the beliefs in a new way.

Every life is precious, but human form is the best only because we can realize God, if not, we are juast like animals, satisfying our senses...
And why of all animals, cows? Because cow is on top of the animal kingdom, but mostly because God's favourite creatures/animals are cows, you can live your whole life with only one cow and one bull, and you're set up for life...
