I think it is simply incompatible to talk about scientific proof and the existence of god (if the god that you mean here is the god to whom we say prayers) at the same time. When the Higgs boson was discovered, it was touted as the "God particle." But it does not actually have anything to do with the religious god. In the same manner that when Einstein believed that there must be a god out there, he did not mean any religious god at all.

It is because the god in any religion does not have any place in science. And science, on the other hand, cannot prove anything about the existence of a god.
