So here's a rookie question (and possibly a rookie mistake). I triple checked the amount I sent (was only able to buy $500). I sent it from Bittrex. Was I supposed to ADD the transaction fee to the amount I sent? I thought that it would send what I actually TYPED IN and take the transaction fee from my account. But now I'm worried.
Though on the confirmation email from Civic, there is a star next to my payment and it says transaction fees may have been deducted from your payment.
So I don't know. Will I just get rejected after spending my entire day figuring this out? Seems counter-intuitive to have to do the math and add the transaction fee after declaring what I wanted to send in the first place. Or am I worrying for nothing?
Hey I did exactly the same thing. The transaction fee made the amount I sent not exact as stated on the deposit page. So I sent the exact amount after. Not sure if this means all of my money will be returned or if the second and correct payment will be accepted.
I was thinking about resending but wouldn't you know it, I don't have that amount of bitcoin left in my account. Agh. Waited patiently all day and thought I did it correctly and now I have to worry that it'll just get rejected in the end. And I would gladly send the missing 0.001. Doesn't make sense that Bittrex would send 0.001 less than what I actually entered and asked it to send. Seems counter-intuitive. Or maybe it's fine and I'm wrong.
being a rookie is ok but being lazy is not! you should read the crowdsale instruction, it says you can't purchase using any exchange, your coins are lost sorry!
From Civic FAQ regarding the sale straight from the site:
What you need to be ready...
2. If you are paying in BTC:
A) Your BTC on an exchange or in a wallet, ready to be sent to the address displayed to you via the crowdsale widget.
AND LATER:
"If you choose to purchase tokens with BTC, you can send BTC from an Exchange but need to provide us with a token receipt address that is ERC20 compatible "
So yes, I am new to this and I may have made a mistake not factoring in the transaction fee because I thought Bittrex would send what I asked and would take the fee from my remaining BTC balance.
But I am not lazy.
