If God, appeared in all of his power and glory, commanded anyone to do something - I doubt anyone would refuse.  So if God commanded me to murder homosexuals, I would.  If God commanded me to murder heterosexuals, I would.  From our point of view, we only have to obey.  After all, it could be the same sort of test God gave Abraham - to see if Abraham would sacrifice Isaac.
