For veteran ICO investors I have a question, how likely is it for a ICO that didn't have an escrow to succeed?

Because I like CryptoPing bot, but like all others fear getting burnt! Also there are is no background being shared on the founders of CryptoPing so if they vanish over night who do I hold accountable?
