They're perfectly hedged...they lose money in every scenario 
Maybe the coin is behaving a little bit like a hedge now, but all the potential is lost in the marketing missteps.
I can't explain why the price is this low, but is it really marketing or the coin being turned down by the likes of Kraken and other fiat exchanges because they don't have a stake in Gulden?
btc-e and Poloniex have the same model. They invest in or get handouts in coins they add, but I don't know about Kraken and others.
