IOTA is a good coin for longterm, Worth it because iota cannot generalized smart contracts because DAGs don't have total transaction ordering, However you can do some types of smart contracts it doesn't matter in which order the transactions  happen as long as both don't conflict and were valid when they were created.
Timestamps are coming to IOTA from the latest developer update on 7/2/2017, Getting great input from Cyril and Serguei, as we are now adding the ability to have timestamps.
