Downloaded the ccminer the other day to mine an altcoin and opened up one of the configs/.bat file that came with it and noticed a "-p d=128" built into the command.

At the time I had no idea what that meant so I left it alone...but when I went into the pool stats I realized it was a set difficulty setting.  I deleted it out of the config/.bat file and now I'm mining at a much higher difficulty...

What are the benefits/cons of not having a set difficulty in your config?

Just curious if I should have left it alone or not...
