Aren't they paying out the tokens sent to the wrong address. In which case there would be no benefit to 'hacking' it if they weren't actually
So it was most likely hackers
Well Create fake hacker story, get 43 000 ETH of which you don't have to explain to investors what happened to them. And if at some point you want out, say "well we had too little funds because of the hack" *shrug shoulders*.
I'm not saying that this is how they did it, just a possible scenario.
