That is not very likely. Governments will spring into action the moment they feel threatened. In fact, Bitcoin is banned in countries like Bangladesh and Bolivia. And governments' interest has been piqued by cryptocurrencies.

I agree. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have a disruptive potential. They have not merely currencies but blockchain tech's other applications can turn the world upside down. Banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions will have nothing to do if cryptocurrencies become mainstream. And so, govts will interfere and ban them before that. Indian govt is in talks about taxing cryptocurrency gains.
