please forgive my ignorance, but i've been trying to follow (plus googling around) and still have a hard time understanding what the bad news has been

the articles from CoinDesk this week don't seem particularly negative to me either.I read about the BTC-e bust, but what else am I missing as part of the "so much bad news"?
