Sorry I don't see a blockchain solution solving this youtube thing for us. For one the content will be on user's personal computers. How can you ensure smooth streaming? Up time? you can't that's why these things need to be centralized and run from a data center with powerful servers and high speed connections.
now for speculative trading that's another story.
Massive hd are getting cheaper and cheaper. We can stream a BitTorrent directly from a website or vlc. There must be some bright minds thinking about it. A blockchain like protocol would tell if and when a hash (of a video, image, poem, dank meme) was created and who the original owner is. That data could be split and reconstructed a bit like a nzb file can do when retrieving a big file from usenet. The amount of data upl/dwnl would be massive, just like it was impossible to imagine watching a 4K TV show on Netflix a few years ago is now trivial. I have no idea how this will cost and how the community will share this cost (maybe raid owners becoming the new data miners and be rewarded for holding hd drives for other people's data?).
We really do not have a choice and a solution will come up eventually...
