Bitcoin, to put it simple is the reigning "King". While altcoins or “Bitcoin alternative,” is any other form of coins that is not bitcoin, it is also any coin that will be launched in the future. Altcoins are referred to as Bitcoin alternatives because, at least to some extent, most altcoins hope to either replace or improve upon at least one Bitcoin component.
