25k is a reasonable amount

They should have accepted the result of their twitter survey in which 50% of respondents chose 5-10k coins for a MN.

Why they need so much for masternode?
Keep in mind the rewards need to be divided between all nodes. So you can make it 1k PIE, but your reward per node will be completely worthless.
This is very reasonable and affordable.
