Are you talking about blockchain.info wallet service or the network in general ? 0.5 as in bitcoins or satoshis or mbits ?Whatever the case,the fees don't exceed 0.001 even for the priority transactions.

That's actually a fairly cheap transaction considering the current amount of unconfirmed transactions on the pool.
Even a regular bitcoin wallet takes that much tx fees, currently bitcoin is bad for microtransactions.
